Vital Statistics

Information about vital events in the lives of Indiana residents. Births, deaths, and marriages are tabulated each year by the Indiana State Department of Health. Indiana is part of a federal-state cooperative with the National Center for Health Statistics so that the collection and publication of these data are standardized among all 50 states.

NOTE:  births and deaths are based on residence.  However, marriage data is tabulated on the place of occurence.

Revisions

Indiana State Department of Health has preliminary and finalized birth data.  Indiana State Department of Health is usually able to provide provisional data during the summer of the year following the year of the births (e.g. Summer 2003 for 2002 births).
