Fourth Quarter 2015: Indiana Realtors Report a Stronger Late Summer Season, Look Ahead to Winter

Indiana Realtors report that the summer selling season ended on a relatively strong note, with 68 percent of survey respondents stating that the level of buyer traffic in September was either average or stronger than average. This is an improvement over this same period in 2014 when 58 percent or Realtors responded similarly. Furthermore, 43 percent of respondents said that their number pending sales was higher than it was the previous year, up from 33 percent reporting the same at this time last year.

As Realtors look ahead to winter, however, the general sentiment about the market is similar to last year. Sixty percent of respondents stated that they expected existing-home sales over the next three to six months to be about average for the time of year, while 21 percent said that sales will be stronger than average. These results are similar to the same period last year (64 percent and 19 percent, respectively).

Similarly, 80 percent of respondents stated the market will either be improving for sellers or will be neutral over the next three to six months, which is on par with the 81 percent reporting the same at this time in 2014.
